Company founded as manufacturer of harness hardware and buggy whip holders for horse and buggy.

1917
Factory on the corner of Kedzie and Carroll Avenues in Chicago built.

1920
The Company makes the first dash board mounted cigar lighter, stop signal switches, under the hood electric engine heaters, visors, engine lights, head and tail lamps and sockets. The company also built bicycles and mopeds.

Loren H. Semler, Sr. goes to work for Metal Specialties.

Loren H. Semler, Sr. purchases Metal Specialties Manufacturing Company.

Company changes name to Loren Specialty Manufacturing Company Inc.

Loren Specialty is 100% under government contract making materials for WWII.

The company made office supplies such as staplers and staple removers under the Presto brand.

The Melrose Park plant was built at 1975 Cornel Avenue. Here, the Company introduced the first electric eraser for pencil and ink pens.

Blott Robb Company is purchased and the Presto line of products was sold. Refuelers were provided to the airline industry through the fuel companies.

Loren H. Semler, Jr. joins the business with his father.

Company moves from Melrose Park to our current Franklin Park location.

Loren Specialty (formerly known as Metal Specialties), Meyer-Ekstrom and Blott Robb merged to become Semler Industries Inc.

Semler Industries began producing ink reclamation equipment.

Semler Industries began producing potable water cabinets for airport gates and hangars.

Loren H. Semler, Jr takes over business, when his father suddenly passed away.

Four Semler employees receive a joint patent for the process for recycling and reconstituting flexographic inks.

Loren W. Semler joins the company with his father. Another patent is received for cleaning underground liquid fuel storage tanks by multiple employees.
